Dr. Scottie Buehler is an Assistant Professor at Sam Houston State University specializing in the history of medicine, gender studies, and eighteenth-century France. Her research explores the socio-political dynamics of midwifery practices and occupational boundaries, with a focus on France and the Atlantic world. She holds a Ph.D. in History of Science and Medicine from UCLA (2020), a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) certification (2010), and a B.A. from the University of Texas (2006).
Her research interests bridge medicine, gender studies, and material culture. Her in-progress book manuscript examines midwifery training implementations across eighteenth-century France.
