Scott Thompson is an Associate Professor of Marketing at Saint Louis University's Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business. He holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration (Marketing) from Arizona State University and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of New Orleans. His research focuses on brand communities, online customer interaction, brand relationships, new product adoption, word of mouth behavior, and marketing strategy.
Dr. Thompson has published extensively in top marketing journals including Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Interactive Marketing, and European Journal of Marketing. His research examines how brand communities influence consumer behavior and product adoption, with particular emphasis on technology products and online interactions.
He has received multiple awards for his research including the Best Practitioner Paper Award (2014 Frontiers in Service Conference), Best Paper Award (2013 Consumer Brand Relationships Conference), and Best Paper Award in Consumer Psychology (2011 Summer AMA Conference). He has chaired dissertation committees for doctoral students including Molan Kim, Hongbum Kim, and Yunmei Kuang.
