Scott Steiger is Professor of Meteorology and Director of LESPaRC (Lake-Effect Storm Prediction and Research Center) at SUNY Oswego's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. His research specializes in lake-effect snow, severe weather forecasting, and atmospheric electricity, with particular focus on winter thunderstorms. Steiger has led NSF-funded projects including the Ontario Winter Lake-effect Systems (OWLeS) study and the Lake Effect Electrification (LEE) project. He maintains field research sites near Lake Ontario and conducts storm chasing expeditions in the Great Plains with students.
