Scott R. Gallagher

Scott R. Gallagher is the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and a Professor of Management at the College of Business, James Madison University. He holds a Ph.D. in Organization Management from Rutgers University, a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University, and a B.B.A. from the University of Texas-Austin.

His research focuses on innovation management, strategic decision-making in high-risk organizations, and technology standards battles. Notable studies include comparative analyses of U.S. and Soviet submarine innovation programs and strategic alliances. He has received multiple awards, including the Center for Entrepreneurship Best Paper Award and CoB Distinguished Professor recognition.

Gallagher's work bridges historical case studies with contemporary organizational challenges, emphasizing learning mechanisms in high-stakes environments. He previously served as Assistant to the Chancellor at Lamar University (1991–1994).
