Research Focus
Dr. Pomeroy's research focuses on molecular mechanisms underlying pediatric brain tumors, particularly medulloblastoma. His laboratory investigates how disruptions in cerebellar development drive tumorigenesis using genomic profiling to identify molecular subtypes. Key areas include tumor heterogeneity, epigenetic regulation, and developing targeted therapies based on molecular classification. His work has established outcome prediction models that guide clinical protocols.
Recent publications demonstrate pioneering work in single-cell genomics of medulloblastoma, revealing tumor-initiating progenitors and molecular evolution during relapse. His research integrates proteomics, epigenetics, and computational biology to identify therapeutic vulnerabilities.
Honors
- Compassionate Caregiver Award, Kenneth Schwartz Center (1999)
- Sidney Carter Award, American Academy of Neurology
- Daniel Drake Medal, University of Cincinnati
Leadership
Dr. Pomeroy leads the Brain Tumor Center at Boston Children's Hospital and oversees a research laboratory focused on translating genomic discoveries into clinical applications. His team collaborates internationally through consortia like the Children's Oncology Group and Rare Brain Tumor Consortium.
