Scott Lawrence is an Assistant Professor of Architecture at the University of Idaho, leading the design-build program and coordinating third-year architecture studios. He teaches seminars and focuses on hospitality design and contextual architecture. Previously, he was a Lecturer at the University of Colorado (2009–2017), where he taught architecture studios and design communication courses. He earned a Master of Architecture from the University of Colorado Denver (2009) and a Bachelor of Environmental Design from the University of Colorado Boulder (2006).
His research emphasizes critical questions of context in architecture, and his design-build studio, Idaho Design Build, received the AIA Northwest and Pacific Region Honor Award in 2019 for the Hat Ranch Winery project. Lawrence co-founded the nonprofit Immersion Workshop, coordinating intensive design studios for international professionals, graduates, and students focused on context-specific design.
He has led travel studios and advocates for extending education beyond the classroom. His professional practice includes founding Nguyen Lawrence, recognized for Colorado restaurant designs.
