Scott Erdman

Scott Erdman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at Syracuse University's College of Arts and Sciences, with additional affiliations in Biochemistry and Biotechnology programs.

His research examines fundamental cellular processes using yeast models, with three primary focuses:

• Analysis of paxillin homolog Pxl1p in Rho GTPase signaling
• Functions and inhibition mechanisms of fungal adhesins
• Functional genomics of lipid/membrane homeostasis in fungi

The laboratory employs molecular and cell biological techniques including plasmid cloning, PCR, protein purification, and fluorescence/electron microscopy, complemented by genetic approaches.

Recent publication in Molecular & Cellular Proteomics explores postmating proteomic changes in Drosophila, reflecting interdisciplinary approaches in his research program.

He has received multiple grants including funding for mycelium-based materials research and curriculum development. Teaches courses spanning cell biology, genetics, and ethical issues in biotechnology at undergraduate and graduate levels.
