Scott Cummings is the Robert Henigson Professor of Legal Ethics at the UCLA School of Law and currently serves as a Visiting Fellow at the Department of Law, European University Institute, under the Fulbright-Schuman Distinguished Chair (January 15, 2022 – July 15, 2022).
His research focuses on the legal profession, legal ethics, access to justice, and local government law. He is particularly known for his work on legal mobilization, democracy, and social justice, employing empirical legal methods to examine how lawyers contribute to societal change. He is the founding faculty director of the UCLA Program on Legal Ethics and the Profession and a long-time member of the UCLA David J. Epstein Program in Public Interest Law and Policy.
Professor Cummings has been recognized with prestigious appointments, including being selected as a Fulbright Distinguished Chair at the European University Institute and as a fellow at the Stanford Center for the Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences in 2021.
