Scott Boden

Dr Scott Boden is an ARC Externally-Funded Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide's School of Agriculture, Food and Wine, within the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology. His research focuses on genetic regulation of inflorescence architecture, flowering time, and grain quality in wheat, aiming to enhance crop yield and nutritional value. He leads projects on thermal responsiveness in wheat and allelic variation in oats, collaborating with institutions like the John Innes Centre and international breeding programs such as KWS and AGT. As Discipline Lead for Agriculture and Honours Co-ordinator, he supervises students in plant science and agriculture, offering projects on oat flowering time, spikelet development, and wheat grain protein content. His work integrates lab and field experiments to understand seasonal plant-environment interactions, with applications in climate-resilient cereal breeding.

**Research Interests**: Genetic regulation of reproductive development in cereals, inflorescence architecture, flowering-time control, hybrid seed production, and introgression of wild barley genes into breeding programs. His studies on paired spikelet formation in wheat highlight the role of photoperiod pathways in yield traits.
