Scot Yoder

Scot Yoder is an Associate Professor at Michigan State University (MSU) affiliated with the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities (RCAH) and the Department of Philosophy. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from MSU, an MA from Bowling Green State University, and a BA from Goshen College. His research focuses on healthcare and environmental ethics, American pragmatism, and religious naturalism, with a particular emphasis on the ethics of ecotourism and sustainability in Costa Rica. Yoder has led programs in Costa Rica, including an RCAH initiative combining ethics, language immersion, and civic engagement. He has also served as Assistant and Associate Dean in RCAH and contributed to interdisciplinary courses on topics such as the ethics of being human and higher education issues. His scholarly work spans philosophy, religious studies, and civic engagement, with publications in journals like American Journal of Theology & Philosophy and Journal for the Study of Religion, Nature and Culture.
