Saymin Lee is a Lecturer in the Department of Communication at the University of Maryland, College Park. She holds a Ph.D. in Communication from UMD and both B.A. and M.A. degrees from Ewha Womans University.
Her research explores public engagement with emerging scientific issues through experimental approaches. She investigates how message framing influences organizational-public relationships, community resilience, and risk perception. Her 2024 study demonstrated that non-humorous messages are more effective than humorous ones for building trust and commitment.
She teaches undergraduate courses in public relations and crisis communication, focusing on practical applications of communication theory in organizational contexts.
