Saveena Veeramoothoo

Dr. Saveena Veeramoothoo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD). She holds a PhD in Rhetoric, Scientific and Technical Communication from the University of Minnesota (2021), an MA in English from the University of Maine, and a BS in Physics from The George Washington University. Her research focuses on technical communication pedagogy, digital literacy, intercultural communication, and social justice in communication. She actively publishes in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, exploring intersections between technical communication and translation studies, as well as global digital engagement.

Her teaching portfolio includes courses such as Business and Technical Writing, Digital Media Theory, Environmental Writing, and Rhetoric of Technology. She emphasizes hands-on learning through field experiences and interdisciplinary projects. Notable publications include work on JEDI initiatives in technical communication education and collaborative autoethnographies in graduate research training.

Dr. Veeramoothoo’s scholarship bridges theoretical frameworks with practical pedagogy, particularly in fostering intercultural competence through technology-mediated collaboration. She has contributed to special journal issues on emerging technologies and digital literacy in communication design.
