Saugher Nojan

Saugher Nojan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology & Interdisciplinary Social Sciences at San Jose State University's College of Social Sciences. Her research critically examines social and systemic inequalities through the lenses of anti-Muslim racism, migration, and educational equity, with specific focus on Muslim and South West Asian North African (SWANA) communities.

She currently serves as Principal Investigator for the National Endowment for the Humanities funded oral history project Resisting Erasure and Asserting Afghan Cultural and Community Resilience, documenting Afghan American experiences. Her grant portfolio demonstrates sustained commitment to collaborative research addressing equity gaps in higher education through community partnerships.
