Satera Nelson, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Allied Health Professions Education, Research, & Practice at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). She holds a PhD from UNMC (2024), an MS in Medical Anatomy from UNMC (2017), and dual bachelor's degrees in Nutrition Science and Ethnic Studies from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (2013). Her academic career includes teaching anatomy at UNMC’s Kearney campus before relocating to Omaha in 2024.
Dr. Nelson’s teaching spans Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, Radiography, and Occupational Therapy programs. She actively contributes to institutional committees, including the CAHP assessment and outcomes committee and UNMC’s diversity fund committee. Her research and practice focus on anatomy education innovation, interdisciplinary health professions training, and addressing diversity in healthcare education.
