Satarupa Bhattacharjee

Satarupa Bhattacharjee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics at the University of Florida. Previously, she was a Postdoctoral Scholar at Penn State University (2022–2024) and completed her PhD at UC Davis under Prof. Hans-Georg Müller (2017–2022). Her research focuses on analyzing functional and non-Euclidean data in metric spaces, including applications in brain imaging, networks, and omics data.

Education: PhD in Statistics from UC Davis (2022), M.Sc. from IIT Kanpur (2017), B.Sc. from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata (2015). Honors include the IMS New Researchers Travel Award (2024), Peter Hall Award (2022), and multiple teaching and research recognitions during her PhD.

Her work emphasizes methodological advancements in Fréchet regression, geodesic models, and nonparametric inference for complex data. Recent contributions include causal effect estimation for random objects and dynamic modeling of pandemic data. She has developed R packages like fdaconcur and frechet, and collaborates on epidemiological studies, particularly regarding COVID-19 dynamics.

Awards include over 15 honors, including academic excellence awards in India and the U.S. She has served on academic committees addressing climate, diversity, and curriculum policy.
