Saskia Wendel is a Professor of Fundamental Theology at the Faculty of Catholic Theology, University of Tübingen. She serves as Dean (Dekanin) since 2024 and leads the sub-project „Prekäres Erscheinen“ within the SFB „Andere Ästhetik“ since 2023. She is also a member of the Center for Religion, Culture and Society (CRCS) since 2022.
Her research spans philosophical and theological anthropology, theories of embodiment, gender and intersectionality, religious epistemology, theology of religions, and mystical theologies. Her recent work examines freedom in theological ethics, spiritual leadership, and divine revelation as appearance.
She has published extensively in German, including works on German mysticism, gender-critical analysis of theological metaphors, and libertarian theology. Her scholarship integrates continental philosophy (notably Lyotard) with systematic theology.
