Saskia Riedel

Saskia Riedel is an art educator and curator currently serving as a Lecturer for Special Tasks in Practical Mediation at the Academy of Fine Arts Saar (HBKsaar) since 2023 and as a Lecturer in Museology and Art Education at the University of Würzburg since 2018. She also acts as Deputy Equal Opportunities Officer at HBKsaar.

Her academic credentials are:

• BA in Museology and Material Culture, Art History, and Economics from University of Würzburg
• MA in Curating and Exhibition Management from Academy of Fine Arts Saar (2017)

Riedel's research and practice focus on participatory approaches in museum education. She develops innovative methods to engage children, young people, and adults through her project arcs audio, which creates multivocal audio guides that transform exhibition experiences by incorporating diverse visitor perspectives. Her work fosters critical dialogue in cultural institutions across Germany, France, and Luxembourg, emphasizing inclusive and community-centered art education practices.

Her professional recognition includes:

• Fellow at German-French creative laboratory OHMG! at Goethe Institute in Nancy (2020)

Riedel founded and leads the arcs audio project, which collaborates with museums to produce visitor-generated audio content that challenges institutional narratives and cultivates democratic engagement in exhibition spaces.
