Sasha Savaloni

Sasha Savaloni is a Guitar Professor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, renowned for his virtuosic performances and advocacy of contemporary guitar repertoire. He holds a doctorate from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the University of St Andrews, focusing on Schubert's music performed on guitar.

His research interests include expanding the classical guitar's repertoire through commissions and premieres of over thirty new works, alongside interpretations of 19th-century compositions. Collaborations with ensembles like Red Note Ensemble and artists such as Sean Shibe and Alison McNeill highlight his chamber music commitments.

Sasha has performed globally at venues like Wigmore Hall, Kings Place, and festivals including the London Guitar Festival and St Magnus International Festival. His accolades include the Sevilla International Guitar Competition (2018) and the New Elizabethan Award (2022). He has also been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and international stations.

His teaching and artistic work emphasize bridging classical traditions with modern innovation, supported by residencies like Chamber Music Scotland (2015–2017).
