Dr. Sasha Jenkins is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Western Australia's School of Agriculture and Environment and Institute of Agriculture. She serves as Master of Biotechnology Course Coordinator and researches microbial biotechnology for sustainable waste management, focusing on nutrient recapture, bioenergy production, and circular economy solutions.
Her work develops low-cost waste treatment technologies using microalgae and insect farming to convert agricultural waste into fertilizers, feeds, and soil amendments. Current projects include optimizing anaerobic digestion systems, reducing greenhouse gas emissions from waste processing, and developing black soldier fly technologies for organic waste conversion.
Jenkins holds a PhD in Molecular Microbial Ecology from Newcastle University and has received multiple research awards including the National Science Innovation Award (2012). She teaches courses on environmental biotechnology, waste management, and organic agriculture, and serves on several school and faculty committees.
