Sarianna Metso is a Professor of Hebrew and Judaic Studies at the University of Toronto, affiliated with the Department of Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations and cross-appointed to the Department of Historical Studies at the University of Toronto Mississauga. She is an Associate Member of the University of Toronto Centre for Jewish Studies.

Her research focuses on the Hebrew Bible and Dead Sea Scrolls, with particular emphasis on ancient Jewish legislation, textual criticism, and historical reconstruction. She is currently preparing a critical edition of Leviticus for the Hebrew Bible: A Critical Edition project and collaborating on the revision of the New Revised Standard Edition (NRSV) of the Bible.
Recent publications highlight her expertise in Qumran textual traditions, manuscript analysis, and the intersection of legal material in Samaritan and Dead Sea Scroll literature. She contributes to debates on methodological challenges in interpreting redactional evidence and reconstructing community structures.
