Sarah de Rijcke is Associate Professor and Deputy Director at Leiden University's Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS). Her research examines interactions between research assessment practices and knowledge production, combining Science and Technology Studies with sociology of science approaches. She holds a PhD (with honors) from the University of Groningen and has held visiting positions at UC San Diego and the University of Vienna.
Her research focuses on:
- Theoretical frameworks for contemporary research assessment
- Empirical analysis of evaluation practices reshaping academic knowledge production
- Contributions to debates on responsible research evaluation and metrics
Her publications frequently explore epistemic impacts of performance indicators, with recent work examining experimental approaches to indicator debates and life sciences evaluation. She was appointed to the Young Academy of Europe in 2016.
