Sarah Yip is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine. Her work focuses on identifying biological mechanisms of addictions and psychiatric disorders using advanced neuroimaging and machine learning techniques. She holds affiliations with the Center for Brain & Mind Health, Child Study Center, and Neuroscience Research Training Program. Her research is funded by organizations including the National Institutes of Health (NIDA, NIAAA) and the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation.
Education: PhD in Psychiatry from the University of Oxford (2013), MSc in Psychodynamic Developmental Neuroscience from University College London (2008), BA in Psychology from New York University (2006).
Research interests span computational psychiatry, neuroimaging of substance use disorders, and translational neuroscience. Key contributions include studies on opioid and cocaine use disorder treatment outcomes, neurodevelopmental correlates of addiction risk, and the role of socio-spatial factors in cognitive development.
Collaborations include work with Marc Potenza, Dustin Scheinost, and Robert Kohler. Recent grants include a $20.6M NIH-funded study on mental illness mechanisms. She serves on the Board of Directors for the APT Foundation.
