Sarah Whitton is Professor of Psychology at the University of Cincinnati, specializing in relationship dynamics and mental health in sexual and gender minority populations. Her research develops evidence-based interventions to strengthen relationships in marginalized communities.
Research examines intimate partner violence prevention, resilience factors in LGBTQ+ youth, and culturally adapted relationship education programs. Recent work investigates pandemic impacts on relationship quality and evaluates telehealth interventions for HIV prevention in male couples.
Funded by NIH and ACF, Whitton's team developed the 2GETHER relationship education/HIV prevention program for young male couples. Current projects include longitudinal studies of mental health trajectories in sexual minority women.
