Sarah Vaughan

Dr Sarah Vaughan is a Research Consultant and Honorary Fellow in Politics at the School of Politics and International Relations. She has dedicated her career to studying Ethiopian political history, sociology of knowledge, decentralization, and conflict studies, with fieldwork experience in the Horn of Africa since the late 1980s.

Her research focuses on the intersection of ethnicity, political power, and transitional justice in Ethiopia, culminating in her co-authored book on Ethiopian political culture. The 2003 book The Culture of Power in Contemporary Ethiopian Political Life reflects her expertise in Ethiopian political history and governance structures, aligning with broader themes in African politics and conflict resolution.
