Sarah Telfer

Sarah Telfer is an Associate Teaching Professor in education at the University of Bolton. She serves as Programme Leader for initial Teacher Education (ITE) 14+ Further Education and Skills (FES) Programmes. With a career spanning professional acting, ESOL teaching, curriculum development, and strategic educational policy implementation, she integrates creative methods like drama and storytelling into language education. Her work focuses on enhancing engagement through interactive pedagogies.

Sarah’s research centers on storytelling as a pedagogic tool in ESOL and literacy classrooms. She explores how drama, creative writing, and literature can be embedded into language teaching to foster interaction and self-reflection. Her publications emphasize therapeutic storytelling, digital narratives, and assessment strategies.

She has extensive experience in staff training, HE curriculum planning, educational policy creation, and conference coordination. Her scientific awards include Senior Fellowship at the Advanced HE Academy.
