Dr. Sarah Payne is Senior Lecturer in Environmental Psychology at the University of Surrey with affiliations in the Environmental Psychology Research Group and Institute for Sustainability. She previously held positions as Associate/Assistant Professor at Heriot-Watt University (2014-2022).
Her internationally recognized research examines soundscapes' role in psychological restoration, spanning urban parks, healthcare settings, skateparks, and housing design. The Project DeStress investigates soundscape engineering for restorative environments.
Teaching includes Psychology of Architecture and Planning Research and Advanced Statistics modules. She supervises doctoral candidates studying soundscape resilience and airport expansion projects.
