About
Dr. Sarah Pati is Assistant Professor for Environmental Contaminants at the University of Vienna's Centre for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science. Her research investigates anthropogenic contamination of natural resources, focusing on occurrence and fate of organic contaminants in aquatic systems through field studies and molecular-scale mechanistic investigations.
Pati specializes in elucidating reaction mechanisms of photochemical and enzymatic transformation processes using high-resolution mass spectrometry and compound-specific stable isotope analysis. Her group examines both emerging and legacy contaminants and their transformation products.
Prior to joining University of Vienna, Pati held research positions at the University of Basel (SNSF Ambizione Fellow) and University of Minnesota, following her PhD in environmental chemistry from ETH Zurich and Eawag.
