Sarah Owens

Sarah Owens is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Salford's School of Health & Society, where she also serves as Directorate Lead for Teaching, Learning and Enhancement. A registered nurse who completed her training at Salford, she brings 18 years of clinical experience from hospice settings where she specialized in palliative care education. She now focuses on innovating nursing education methods and student assessment approaches.

Research Focus:
Her work centers on improving healthcare education systems, particularly in palliative care contexts. Key interests include:

• Advance care planning pedagogy for care home staff
• Bereavement support training for educators
• Curriculum design for interdisciplinary health professionals
• Implementation science in clinical education

Leadership & Service:
As teaching directorate lead, she oversees educational strategy development and chairs the University Education and Student Experience Committee, driving initiatives to enhance learning outcomes across health sciences programs.
