Sarah Neal

Professor Sarah Neal is affiliated with the University of Sheffield at the School of Sociological Studies, Politics and International Relations. She joined the department in 2016, previously working at Middlesex University, the Open University, and the University of Surrey.

• Research Focus: Everyday social life in urban/rural environments, ethnicity/multiculture/migration/superdiversity, community/belonging/place, Brexit identity politics, education/citizenship, leisure inequalities, and qualitative methods.
• Grants: Leverhulme Trust, ESRC, and Natural England-funded projects on rural Brexit, informal urban sports inclusion, nature access barriers, and post-secular citizenship.
• Editorial Roles: Co-Editor of Sociology (2013-17), member of Ethnic and Racial Studies and Journal of Intercultural Studies editorial boards.
• Teaching: Qualitative Research Methods, Race/Ethnicity/Migration, and Sociology of Everyday Life modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
