Sarah Minor is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at the University of Iowa, within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She is a writer and interdisciplinary artist whose work bridges creative nonfiction, visual arts, and experimental forms.
Her research focuses on the intersection of image and text, particularly through what she calls 'Intersectional Form'—a framework that explores how experimental literary and visual structures can express marginalized and simultaneous experiences. Her teaching includes graduate courses such as 'History of the Essay' and 'The Krause Essay Prize Seminar,' as well as undergraduate courses like 'Multimedia Writing' and 'Nonfiction Writing Workshop.'
Her recent publications include Slim Confessions: The Universe as a Spider or Spit, Bright Archive, and the forthcoming Carousel from Yale University Press. These works exemplify her engagement with hybrid genres, archival aesthetics, and visual writing. She has exhibited interactive installations at institutions such as the University of Arizona and the Cleveland Institute of Art.
She has received significant recognition, including the Noemi Press Book Award for Prose, the Big Other Award in Nonfiction, and fellowships from the American Scandinavian Foundation, Vermont Studio Center, and Kenyon Writer’s Workshop.
