Sarah M. Whiting is the Dean of Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design (GSD) and holds the Josep Lluís Sert Professorship of Architecture. She previously served as Dean of Rice University’s School of Architecture (2010–2019) and has taught at Princeton University, the University of Kentucky, Illinois Institute of Technology, and the University of Florida. Her research focuses on architectural theory, urbanism, and the societal impact of the built environment, particularly how public life is shaped by design.

As Dean, she oversees GSD’s academic and research initiatives while maintaining her role as a practicing architect and theorist.
Her professional experience includes collaborations with firms like OMA, Peter Eisenman, and Michael Graves. She frequently lectures and serves as a design critic internationally.
