Sarah M. Keesom

Sarah M. Keesom, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Biology at Utica University in the School of Arts & Sciences. She earned her B.S. in Biology from Elmira College and her Ph.D. in Biology from Indiana University, with postdoctoral training at the University of Manitoba.

• Research Focus: Mechanisms of serotonergic modulation in auditory processing during social contexts
• Teaching: Courses include Anatomy & Physiology, Neuroanatomy, Research Methods, and Animal Behavior

Her work bridges neurophysiology and behavioral studies to explore how serotonin adjusts sensory processing in response to social dynamics. Students in her lab gain hands-on experience in immunohistochemistry, vocalization analysis, and behavioral techniques.
