Professor Sarah Jane Williams is a faculty member at the University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney) in the Faculty of Law & Justice. She holds concurrent affiliations as an Associate of the Australian Human Rights Institute and the Centre for Criminology, Law & Justice, and serves as Chair of the NSW International Humanitarian Law Committee for the Australian Red Cross.
Her research focuses on:
- International criminal justice systems
- Legal frameworks for humanitarian crises
- Disaster response legislation
- Transnational legal compliance mechanisms
Prior to UNSW, she was Dorset Fellow in Public International Law at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law (2008-2010), Senior Legal Researcher at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (2006-2007), and Lecturer at Durham Law School (2003-2008). She has consulted for the European Commission, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.
