Sarah Harris is a Senior Research Fellow at the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences, University of Edinburgh, where she leads data collection and scientific analyses for the Lothian Birth Cohort 1936 (LBC1936) waves 6 and 7 under a UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council grant.
Her educational background includes a PhD in Expression and functional analysis of DMAHP/SIX5 from the University of Glasgow (1999) and a BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences (Genetics) from the University of Leicester (1994).
Harris is a molecular and statistical biologist with over 20 years of experience focusing on multi-omics investigations into cognitive aging and dementia. She leverages large-scale cohorts including the Lothian Birth Cohorts, Generation Scotland, UK Biobank, and the CHARGE consortium to identify molecular contributions to cognitive function and decline.
She has supervised PhD student Saskia Hagenaars and actively contributes to genomic epidemiology research through international collaborations.
