Sarah Geiger

Sarah Geiger is an Assistant Professor in Kinesiology and Community Health at the University of Illinois, with additional affiliations at the Institute for Sustainability, Energy, and Environment and the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology. Her research focuses on environmental influences on child health outcomes, particularly addressing asthma, maternal stress, and the impacts of chemical exposures like polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

Key research interests include understanding how socioeconomic factors and environmental pollutants interact to affect child development, asthma prevalence, and maternal health during pregnancy. She leads studies using large-scale cohort data (e.g., ECHO Program) to explore mechanisms linking environmental exposures to health disparities.
