Sarah Fowler

Sarah Fowler is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Mount Mercy University, where she joined in 2023. She has been a practicing nurse since 2018, with a focus on pediatric and perioperative care. Her professional background includes roles at the Stead Family Children’s Hospital at the University of Iowa, where she served as team lead in otolaryngology, overseeing staff education and procedural expertise in head, neck, ears, nose, and throat surgeries.

Her research and teaching interests center on pediatric nursing interventions, regulatory mechanisms in health, and perioperative care. She teaches courses such as Challenges Along the Journey: Intervention for Alterations in Regulatory and Protective Mechanisms, Nursing Skills for the Journey, and Disease Paths. She remains actively involved in clinical practice at the Children’s Hospital and holds leadership roles in hospital councils, including Co-Chair of the Children’s Perioperative Unit Practice Council.

Outside academia, she enjoys outdoor activities with her family, music, and reading.
