Sarah F. Porter

Dr. Sarah F. Porter is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at Gonzaga University. Her research focuses on early Christian material culture, deathscapes (cemeteries/martyria), and the intersection of archaeology with feminist/queer theory. She has conducted fieldwork in Greece, Italy, and Turkey.

Her scholarship critiques colonial frameworks in archaeology and museum practices. Current projects include a book analyzing early Christian deathscapes as sites of political and emotional negotiation. She teaches courses on early Christianity, religion and material culture, and gender studies in antiquity.

Active in academic communities including the Late Antiquity and Feminist Humanities research networks, she contributes to interdisciplinary dialogues on affect theory and Mediterranean archaeology.
