Sarah Cooper

Dr. Sarah Cooper is a Senior Lecturer at York Business School, York St John University, with extensive experience in academia since 2007 and journalism since 1999 across the UK, Australia, Hungary, the UAE, and more. She teaches fashion marketing, journalism, and media-related courses, emphasizing ethics, consumer behavior, and practical skills like Adobe InDesign and SEO. Her research focuses on sensory consumption, particularly haptics' impact on media and journalism.

Education: PhD in 'Haptics and its impact on the consumption of journalistic content' from Leeds Beckett University (2014–2022). Earlier work includes a book chapter on external examining in higher education (2021) and contributions to conferences on fashion education and media studies.

Research Interests: Cooper investigates how tactile sensations influence consumer engagement with media, especially print journalism and fashion. She explores ethical dimensions of fashion and media industries, including supply chains and consumption habits. Her work bridges sensory science with practical applications in media design and education.

Professional Activities: She serves as external examiner for Leeds University's MA Fashion, Enterprise and Society, and has held similar roles at UAL and Solent University. She co-edits the International Journal of Fashion Education, Teaching and Practice, and edits her own publication Yella (yella-yella.net), highlighting indie brands. She contributed to the Research into Professional Practice in Education and Work-Based Learning Steering Group at York St John.
