Sarah Cleave

Sarah Cleave is a Lecturer in Publishing and Creative Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University, where she leads Industry Placements and Internships for the English Department. Her academic work examines systemic inequalities in publishing and education sectors.

Research interests focus on:

• Decentralization of literary canons through anthologies
• Equity in creative industries
• Transnational literary networks
• Pedagogical approaches to professional writing

Cleave brings extensive industry experience from roles at Comma Press (as Publishing Manager), Saqi Books, Telegram, and Haus Publishing. She co-founded Manchester-in-Translation and edited notable collections including All Walls Collapse: Stories of Separation (with English PEN), Europa28: Writing by Women on the Future of Europe (with Hay Festival), and Banthology: Stories from Unwanted Nations.
