Sarah Brooks is the Head of Initial Teacher Education at St Mary’s University, where she has worked for nearly two decades. She holds a BA (Hons) in History with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Master’s in Education. Her roles have included Programme Director and Academic Director, showcasing leadership in educational programs.
Her research interests focus on inclusive education, ensuring children with individual learning needs receive appropriate support, and enhancing teaching practices through work-based learning programs. She has developed nationally recognized primary education programs that allow trainees to gain a degree and teacher qualification while employed.
Externally, Sarah collaborates with schools, further education colleges, and local authorities, contributing to SATs materials and advising on mathematics teaching. She is a Designated Safeguarding Officer and has worked with OFSTED inspection teams. Her expertise is recognized by Edexcel, where she modeled best practices in mathematics education.
As a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, her contributions to educational excellence are acknowledged. She advocates for healthy school environments through her involvement in the Healthy Schools program and supports teaching assistants’ professional development.
