Sara Pollock

Sara Pollock is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Florida, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on numerical analysis, efficient solvers for nonlinear and eigenvalue problems, finite element methods, and scientific computing. She holds an NSF CAREER Award for her work on extrapolation methods for eigenvalue problems.

Research interests include design/analysis of iterative methods for nonlinear PDEs, uniqueness of discrete solutions, and goal-oriented adaptivity for multiscale problems. Her work is supported by NSF grants DMS-2011519 (collaborative with Clemson University) and DMS-1852876. She advises current graduate students Michelle Baker and Christian Austin, and has mentored PhD graduates Rhea Shroff and Matt Dallas.

Pollock also contributes to computational geometry through inverse-kinematic algorithms and serves in editorial roles. Her research group hosts the Numerical Analysis Research Group and the Seminar on Applied and Numerical Analysis (ANA).
