Sara Myers (Ph.D.) is a faculty member in the Department of Biomechanics at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO). Since 2011, her research has focused on peripheral artery disease (PAD), gait analysis, and assistive device development. As Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and Creative Activity since 2022, she oversees UNO's research infrastructure, including grants administration, compliance, and governmental relations.
- Ph.D., Biomechanics, University of Nebraska Medical Center
- M.S. and B.S., Exercise Science (Biomechanics emphasis), UNO
Her work employs biomechanical modeling and machine learning to assess PAD progression and optimize interventions like ankle-foot orthoses and hip exoskeletons. Research funded by NIH, VA, and NASA emphasizes improving mobility in older adults and enhancing metabolic efficiency during walking. Recent publications highlight applications of artificial neural networks for diagnostic modeling and longitudinal studies on exercise therapy and orthotic interventions.
