Sara Male

Sara Male is a Senior Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music (Violoncello) at Franklin & Marshall College, with additional teaching appointments at Linden Hall School and Millersville University. She holds a Master of Music from Mannes College of Music and a Bachelor of Music from Rutgers University, having studied with renowned pedagogues including Bernard Greenhouse, Zara Nelsova, and Timothy Eddy.

As an active performer, Male serves as principal cellist with the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra and is a founding member of the Newstead Trio, with whom she has toured internationally for 17 years. Her recent musical collaborations include the duo Chiaroscuro with pianist Maria Corley. Her professional background includes membership in the Saskatoon Symphony and extensive recital performances across North America, Europe, and Asia.

Her pedagogical approach combines traditional cello technique with contemporary performance practices, spanning solo, chamber, and orchestral repertoire.
