About
Dr. Sara Burch is an Associate Professor of Biology at the State University of New York at Geneseo. Her research focuses on functional morphology of theropod dinosaurs, evolution of avian locomotor systems, and the evolution of vertebrates in Madagascar. She holds a Ph.D. in Anatomical Sciences from Stony Brook University (2013) and a B.A. in Biological Sciences from the University of Chicago (2006). Her work combines paleontological field studies with anatomical and myological analyses to reconstruct dinosaur biology.
Her research website (http://paleontology.saraburch.com/) details ongoing projects on dinosaur skeletal and muscular adaptations. Courses taught include Evolutionary Biology (BIOL 306) and Anatomy & Physiology I (BIOL 365), emphasizing hands-on dissection and physiological experiments.
Dr. Burch’s publications span theropod paleopathology, pectoral girdle evolution, and forelimb myology in tyrannosaurs and abelisaurids. Her work contributes to understanding Cretaceous vertebrate ecosystems and evolutionary patterns in dinosaur limbs.
