About
Associate Professor Santosh Shrestha is affiliated with the School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). His core research focuses on advancing solar cell efficiency toward theoretical limits, particularly through hot carrier solar cell concepts, novel materials, and nanostructured systems. Prior to UNSW, he served as a research fellow at the University of Wollongong and holds a PhD from UNSW.
Research Interests:
- Advanced photovoltaic concepts (e.g., Hot Carrier Solar Cells)
- Nanostructured materials and thin film growth
- Ion beam analysis and material characterization
- Transition metal nitrides/hydrides as absorber materials
Key Activities:
- Supervising PhD projects on ALD-grown nitrides and hot carrier materials
- Leading studies on radiation-tolerant solar cells for space applications
Labs/Teams: Active in UNSW’s photovoltaics research facilities, focusing on material synthesis and characterization.
