About
Professor Sanjeev Krishna is Professor of Molecular Parasitology and Medicine at St George's, University of London, with joint appointments at the Infection and Immunity Research Institute and TropMed. His pioneering work spans malaria therapeutics, diagnostics, and vaccine development, including fundamental discoveries on artemisinin's mechanism of action and development of VSV-ZEBOV Ebola vaccine.
His research program encompasses: identification of antimalarial drug targets including PfATP6 and glucose transporters; characterization of drug resistance mechanisms; development of point-of-care diagnostics for tropical diseases; and clinical studies optimizing malaria treatments. Professor Krishna leads international consortia on drug repurposing for cancer therapy and has advised WHO on malaria/COVID-19 therapeutics.
His publications demonstrate consistent focus on translational research in global health, spanning molecular mechanisms of drug action, vaccine development, pandemic response strategies, and innovative clinical trial designs for neglected diseases.
