About
Sangram Redkar is a Professor at the School of Manufacturing Systems and Networks, Arizona State University. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University (2005) and has been with ASU since Fall 2007, initially as an Assistant Professor before advancing to his current role.
- Education: Ph.D. (Auburn University), M.S. in Mechanical Engineering Design (Indian Institute of Technology), B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (University of Mumbai), and a diploma in Mechanical Engineering (V.J.T.I., India).
His research focuses on nonlinear dynamics and control systems, with applications in machine design, inertial navigation, GPS, and micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS). Recently, his lab has pioneered AI/ML algorithms for biomedical applications, including ocular biomarker detection via hybrid-explainable AI approaches to predict health outcomes from eye imagery.
Redkar’s lab has developed innovative prototypes such as a suction cup spider suit, wearable air conditioner, behind-the-wall scanner, and in-ear physiological monitoring devices for warfighters. His work bridges robotics, mechatronics, and healthcare technology, with collaborations spanning aerospace/defense initiatives and DARPA projects.
- Key Expertise Areas: Robotics, Nonlinear Dynamical Systems.
He has served as a reviewer for journals like Nonlinear Dynamics and Journal of Vibration and Acoustics, and as a consultant for engineering firms. His teaching portfolio includes courses in robotic systems, mechanical engineering systems, and mechatronics.
