Dr. Sang Hwang is a Professor of Education and holds the Lanna and Bob Hatton Endowed Professorship at West Texas A&M University. With an Ed.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia, she teaches reading skills and content area instruction while coordinating the American Reads Tutoring Program.
Her research focuses on refugee education, multilingual challenges, and Science of Teaching Reading strategies. As a Traylor Research Grant recipient (2022-2023), she develops interventions for second-generation refugee families in the Texas Panhandle.
Additional responsibilities include advising the Korean Student Association and serving on the Student Honor's Committee. Research outputs include scholarly publications and conference presentations on ESL pedagogy.
