Sandro Guerrieri is a Full Professor of History of Political Institutions at the Department of Political Science, Sapienza University of Rome, where he teaches courses on Italian and European political institutions at both undergraduate and graduate levels. He holds a PhD in History of Doctrines, Political Institutions, and Political Philosophy from the same university and has advanced through the academic ranks since becoming a researcher in 2001.
His research focuses on the institutional history of the European Union—particularly the European Parliament, the development of French political institutions from the Third to the Fifth Republic, and the constitutional history of the Italian Republic. He has served in significant academic roles, including President of the Academic Area of Public Administration (2014–2020), and is a member of multiple editorial boards and academic committees.
His recent scholarly output centers on European constitutional development, parliamentary evolution, and transnational political reform, with a strong emphasis on historical analysis of supranational institutions. His publications and conference presentations reflect a consistent engagement with the International Commission for the History of Representative and Parliamentary Institutions (ICHRPI), where he has been a Foreign Correspondent since 2008 and Vice President since 2023.
