Dr. Sandra Wheeler is Senior Lecturer and Undergraduate Coordinator in Anthropology at University of Central Florida, specializing in bioarchaeology. She earned her PhD from University of Western Ontario (2009).
Research analyzes infant and child remains to reconstruct ancient mortuary practices, maternal health, and childhood development. Integrates osteological evidence with cultural context to examine lives of young individuals in Egyptian and Maya societies. Fieldwork investigates health patterns, trauma, and burial landscapes.
Publications appear in American Journal of Physical Anthropology, International Journal of Paleopathology, and Journal of Osteoarchaeology. Recognized with multiple teaching awards for undergraduate instruction.
